I saw the Broadway production once. I'm sure it was in 1984, but the pop-up window only goes back to 1987. Anyway, I knew absolutely NOTHING about the story at all. My wife and I stood in line at the Times Square half-price ticket booth and got seats in the 5th row! Needless to say I bawled my head off! (I'm a man who's not afraid to show his emotions) I have been involved in several productions with a local theatre group in Friday Harbor, Washington, located in the beautiful San Juan Islands, near the Canadian border. We are fortunate to have some very talented people here, it is a sort of gathering place for artist types. We have Andrew McLaughlin living here and he has been very involved with our theatre. I have been in Fiddler on the Roof, Calico Cargo, (both in the late 70's) and most recently, in 2003, I got to play Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie. It was a great thing for me to play a 22-year old rock star (I was 44 at the time) who sings rock and roll, drinks beer and smokes cigarettes. "All I gotta do is act naturally"! My dream is to play Jean Valjean someday. I have talked to the play selection committee and they feel it would be too complex. I disagree. Is it difficult (and/or expensive) to get the rights and scripts for this play? Thanks for your time! My husband and I have seen the show 26 times. We evn traveled to Toronto, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia to see it.Every Broadway show we have seen since has not lived up to the excellence of Les Miserables. We hope to see it another 36 times. Linda McCarthy

Les Mis changed my view of musical theater forever. It isn't just an excuse for pretty songs strung together--it's a real human experience. I have loved many actors in the show, and just couldn't pick a favorite. I hope I live to see it play again "One Day More!"

Even though Ihavem't seen Les Miserables, I have seen many other musicals on and off broadway and I love it. I hope to be on broadway some day, and I thought Brian Presss was great in Beauty and the beast.

i have never(unfortunately) seen the broadway productuon. In fact, The only thing to do with the broadway production(closing) is that I have a signed poster with all the cast members, but thats it. I love les Miserabels(otherwis...why else would i be here?) and I have always known the story scince a small child. Well I moved one day and I went through my c-d's only to find Les mis! I had only vaguely recongnized it. I looked on the back to see what songs were on this "Les Mis" and I saw "castle on a cloud" , "Master of the house" , and 'on my own" and I remember hearing those song name. The first two were hazy but On My Own was a definate. So I listened to the track and wondered what the whole story was.(It was origional london) i thought the song had a little cosette thing going on, but I didn't know. i sat and listened to it all and was crying at the end. Ever scince.... WELL! you could Kinda Guess! I'm so obsessed I'm naming my fish after Enjolras, Eponine, and Cosette.

Hey, my name is Sara and ever since I did Les Mis in The Lynn Clark Summertime Players, I have been in love with it. It is the most beautiful play ever written and the lyrics sometimes make me cry. My favorite characters are Eponine and Gavroche. i might be going to see it in London and I am sooo excited! G2G! love your site!
